I bought a set of these trays to use as place mats. They're really convenient for carrying food from the kitchen to the dining room, and they're also easy to move from the dining room to the sink after eating. Appearance: They're not quite real wood, but they don't look cheap. I live in a wheelchair due to a spinal cord injury. I use both hands to push my wheelchair, so it's difficult to carry things. If you can't feel with your lower body, you can't feel hot things, and you tend to burn yourself without realizing it, but thanks to the thickness of the wood, there's no problem even if you drop hot food on it. It's something we can't do without!

When carrying things upstairs, it's good that it doesn't slip so easily (especially with ceramics and the like), depending on the material.
