I bought this for use on my kitchen counter. It's stable, the size is just right, and it's easy to use, so I find it very useful. There is one thing to be careful of, though: it's quite weak when it comes to moisture. If you spill a little water or leave a glass of drink on it, the water will soak in and make the makeup come off. Even if you wipe it off straight away, there may be some residue. I think a plastic mat is essential if you're going to use it near water or leave drinks on it.

If you're going to use it in the kitchen, it's a good idea to spray it with a waterproofing spray. If it gets wet, the water will soak into the board.
